I would like to credit my blending ability to two veteran Sonoma County  winemakers, David Coffaro of Coffaro Vineyards and Winery in Geyserville (Dry Creek Valley) and chemist, chef and winemaker extraordinaire Robert Rex of Deerfield Ranch Winery in Kenwood (Sonoma Valley). Dave Coffaro was the first to take me under his wing and show me his techniques and some secrets to making a successful blended wine. Soon after that as Deerfield's National Sales Manager I was able to observe first hand Robert Rex's knowledge of how each varietal affects the palate and the blend. Bottom line, it's the taste that matters.
