2013 Carreras Ranch 'old vine' Dry Creek Valley Zinfandel

In 1958, at 8 years old, Joe Ramazzotti moved from Italy to Sonoma County's Dry Creek Road to join his aunt on her 50 acre ranch. Planted in 1906 the Carreras Ranch vineyard was already 52 years old. Today, Joe manages the 25 acres that is planted with an Italian field blend of zinfandel, alicante bouchet, petite sirah, Napa gamay and chasseles dore'. In addition to Bruce Patch Joe's fruit goes to such prestigious wineries as Ferrari-Carano, Flowers, Wilson, Kendall Jackson and Rodney Strong.

This supple beauty was aged 24 months in fine American oak. We made about 100 cases and bottled on December 8, 2015. Label artist Sean Colgin has turned out another spectacular label. Tasting Notes: 'A field blend of mostly zinfandel, bright red garnet in color, rich and smooth on the palate with what we like to call an 'old vine' finish. Earthy and a slight mineral taste'.
