Produced from vines planted in the 1800s, this field blend contains zinfandel & alicante bouchet. 24 months in American oak. Where’s the corkscrew?
Located on Starr Road in Windsor, the 8-acre Clopton Vineyard was planted over 100 years ago and is dry farmed, yielding only about 3 tons in total, resulting in a wonderfully concentrated flavor for which Bruce has produced earlier wines garnering 90+ ratings from Wine Spectator. The blend is zinfandel, alicante bouchet and a touch of palomino.
What the Critics areSaying...
93 pts-Opaque purple in color. 15.5% alcohol. Predominantly Zinfandel and Alicante Bouchet. Gergeous nose of red fruits, twizzlers, earth and cocoa powder. Chewy, powerful and exreacted. Full bodied with ample acidity. Raspberry liquer, white pepper and cherries on the palate. The finish is exquisite. Drink over the next 4-6 years. Tom Lee...The Zinfandel Chronicles
